As a visual artist and musician, the speaker articulates the role that the arts have on perceptions of self and the advancement of society.

After graduating from Essex's Colchester Institute art school, he began his musical career with the glam-rock band Roxy Music. He has since recorded numerous experimental albums leading him to be referred to as one of the principal fathers of the ambient music genre. He has also produced albums for popular musicians such as U2, The Talking Heads, Depeche Mode and David Bowie.
