The keynotes by Katherine L. Reid offer the perspective of both a biochemist and a mother of five. Through research and trial and error, Reid was able to determine that foods regularly consumed within the Western diet were negatively correlated with her daughter's autistic tendencies. After her first-hand experience, Reid turned a critical eye to healthy food manufacturing processes and medical approaches.
Soon after, Reid began her nonprofit organization, titled 'Unblind My Mind,' which focuses on helping people transition their diets according to the links she has observed between food and metabolic disorders, especially those that affect the brain.
