Sampson 'Sam' Gordon Berns was known for his speeches in the quest for leading a happy life and guiding people into living life with a positive mentality. He was born on the 23rd of October, 1996, and passed on the 10th of January, 2014. Weighing around 50 pounds his entire life, Berns was one of the kids among 350 worldwide to have the Progeria disease, a progressive genetic disease which entails stinted growth, tight skin, heart disease and rapidly premature aging.
Since Progeria affects 1 in 8 newborns, there are less than 250 children in the world who are still alive, which making extensive research on the disease difficult. Inspired by Berns' disease, his parents founded the Progeria Research Foundation to provide a cure for the rare, deadly disease.
