Sonja Lyubomirsky's keynotes focus on the science of happiness, which is also the topic of her book The How of Happiness: A New Approach to Getting the Life You Want. She uses her knowledge of what makes people happy to explain key approaches and provide insight on popular happiness myths.
Lyubomirsky is also a professor at the University of California, Riverside and has been there for over 18 years. In 1989, she graduated from Harvard with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She then moved on to Stanford where she earned a P.h.D in social psychology.
Lyubomirsky uses empirical data to quantify her theories on happiness and says she studies happiness because "happiness is one of the most salient and significant dimensions of human experience and emotional life." Her work in this field has been praised for its basis in empirical data.
