The Stuart Firestein keynotes focus on the science behind smell and taste as he is currently studying such at the Columbia University Department of Biological Sciences.
Stuart is known for his contradictory views on the scientific method. He believes that a hypothesis should be made after collecting data, rather than before. He believes the scientific method is a biased way to practise science as scientists tend to fall in love with their ideas and alter results to make it true.
Stuart Firestein keynotes are very exploratory at the moment as not much is known as far as taste and smell go. Stuart has a B.S. in Biology and a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley. It's interesting to note that Stuart didn't receive his B.S. until he was 40.
