The Aubrey de Grey keynotes offer compelling arguments about why we age and how we can reverse the process.
Grey graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA, MA and Ph.D., initially studying computer science, but then choosing to focus on biological gerontology. He worked at Sinclair Research Ltd. as a software engineer in 1985 before becoming the manager of software development in Cambridge's genetics department.
During his time at the university he wrote a book, the 'Mitochondrial Free Radical Theory of Aging,' for which he earned his Ph.D. Grey's increased interest and expertise in science landed him the Chief Science Officer position at the Methuselah Foundation from 2003 to 2009. He coined the term SENS, Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence in 2005, later founding his own non-profit organization, also named SENS in 2009, to ensure widespread access to regenerative medicine.
For his contribution to the science of gerontology, Grey was awarded Fellow status at the American Aging Association and the Gerontological Society of America, as well as serving as an advisor for many a journal and magazine.
