The John Green commencement speech encourages the graduating class of 2013 at Butler University to continue reading lots of books, ideally his own in hardcover. The graduation speaker is also a novelist, as the author of the award winning 'Looking for Alaska,' New York Times Bestseller 'The Fault in Our Stars,' 'An Abundance of Katherines' and 'Paper Towns.' Green is also the co-author of 'Will Grayson Will Grayson.' His most recent work 'The Fault in Our Stars' is currently being adapted into a film to be released in 2014.

The young adult author is also well known on the internet as one half of the vlogbrothers on YouTube. Along with his brother Hank Green, the vlogbrothers post regular video blogs to each other which resulted in an online community made up of Nerdfighters. Nerdfighteria is committed to making the world a better place, intellectualism and empathy. The John Green commencement speech speaks to these values.
