He started his career as a consultant at Bain & Company. He became Vice President before moving on to climb the ladder at Vivra Holdings, Inc. There he assumed positions like CEO, President and Chairman of the Board.

Thiry is currently the Chairman and CEO of DaVita. He has filled this position since 1999 and has since turned the company around from near bankruptcy to achieving Fortune 500 status.
