In Tiffany Shlain presentations, she emphasizes the human connections that communications technologies afford. In particular, she points out that the Internet has allowed people to connect with those that they would not otherwise be able to communicate with and draws out the implications of this unprecedented development.
By trade, Shlain is a filmmaker. She has worked with such luminaries as Peter Coyote, Alan Cumming and Harrison Ford. Her work has appeared in the Sundance Film Festival, Rotterdam Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival. Her talent for communication is not limited to the screen though.
While many traditional media outlets have been befuddled by emerging media, Shlain embraces it. Indeed, she is the founder of the Webby Awards. Each year this international award is bestowed upon producers of remarkable, excellent online content. Past winners have included Google, BBC News and The Onion.
Shlain is an alumni of UC Berkely and has studied at the Harvard Business School Executive Education. She is also a fellow of the Aspen Institute.
