The keynotes by Marc and Craig Kielburger focus on the laws of social change young people can observe to make a difference. The Kielburger bothers co-founded the international charity and educational partner Free the Children, in addition to its partner social enterprise Me to We. Craig started Free the Children at the age of 12 in 1995 after reading the story of Iqbal Masih in the Toronto Star. Iqbal was a child laborer from Pakistan who spoke out against the practice after he escaped, which led to his untimely murder.
The Kielburgers are committed to ending the cycle of poverty globally while empowering youth to change the world domestically. They do this through Free the Children's signature youth empowerment event, We Day. We Day brings together the greatest social justice leaders and entertainers to celebrate the actions young people are taking to create change at home and overseas. The keynote by Marc and Craig Kielburger examines historical examples of social change and highlights ways other youth can get involved.
