Michael Green is an architect who promotes the use of wood in architecture through his speeches and keynotes. Green builds everything from small retail spaces to housing and large buildings. Green has offices located in Vancouver, British Columbia and New York.
Michael Green focuses on meeting public demand in terms of architecture without increasing carbon emissions. He acknowledges that building materials such as steel and concrete give off harmful greenhouse gas emissions, so he promotes building skyscrapers and other buildings using wooden beams instead. Green believes wooden architecture to be as reliable and safe as steel and concrete, but more eco-friendly.
Green is also a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. He teaches at the University of British Columbia’s School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.
