In her presentations, Noreena Hertz addresses how people make decisions. In particular, she examines how expert opinion affects decision-making. Ironically perhaps, she is an expert herself.
Hertz is the Duisenberg Professor of Globalization, Sustainability and Finance based at Duisenberg School of Finance and a Fellow of University College London, where she earned her bachelor's degree. In terms of advanced degrees, she holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Throughout her presentations, Noreena Hertz points out that experts are often wrong. Still, as an expert herself, she has made at least a few correct predictions. In her best selling 2002 book, 'The Silent Takeover' she outlined the risks posed by unregulated markets and huge financial institutions;' in her best 2005 selling book, 'IOU: The Debt Threat,' she revealed the threats that massive amounts of debt posed to economies. Many would argue that her concerns have been validated in recent years.
Among awards and accolades, Hertz has been honored as a Young Global Leader by World Economic Forum and been named as One of the World’s leading thinkers by The Observer.
