The Troy Hammond talk on energy efficiency describes how North Central College and similar universities can take on sustainability projects. The speaker is currently serving as the 10th president of the academic institution. He has previous experience as a business leader, entrepreneur, scientist and teacher.

The speaker earned his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in experimental atomic physics. He also received a BS from Milligan College in mathematics, a second BC from Georgia Tech in physics. The inventor holds 47 worldwide patents as well as patent applications for 11 inventions. He also has published works concerning energy technologies like nanotechnology, physics, polymer electronics and solar power.
